THE VISIONARIES
Design
that moves
“By dialoguing you start thinking.”
The sentence lands like a small instruction you can
carry in your pocket. Not a slogan. A method. In the
design team at Gabriel, dialogue is a crucial part of
the work.
Picture the table where it begins. A spread of swatches, a colour scale with tiny shifts that only reveal themselves when you move the fabric under light, hands
turning materials over as if they were reading a text.
Someone says: this one feels calm. Another answers:
yes, but in a room it will behave louder. A third points
to a fibre blend, the kind of detail that looks invisible
until you know why it matters.
Their product is famously abstract. A textile is not the
chair, not the room, not the atmosphere people will
later describe as warm, quiet, welcoming, precise. A
fabric has no shape. It is potential. It becomes real
only when it is placed inside someone else’s context
- and therefore the design work must always travel
outward, beyond the studio, into the customer’s world.
This is where their idea of movement begins. Design
is not just decoration added at the end. It is the ability to make something function, feel right and then to
make it last.
