The detective work
you never see
They keep a magnifier on the table like a symbol, but it isn’t just a
prop. It represents how they work when something doesn’t match expectations. They go closer. They examine.
First, they look at the fabric from a distance: how it reads in a space,
how calm it feels, how it absorbs light. Then closer: texture, handle,
construction. Then closer still, down into yarn and fibre - sometimes
under a microscope - to understand what is actually happening inside the material.
This is the hidden work customers rarely see but depend on every day.
A test report is useful, but it can be too neat. The team seeks to understand behaviour, not just results. In flammability testing, for example, a pass is not the end of the story. Alexander has found himself
watching a long test video second by second - not simply to confirm
the outcome, but to see exactly what happens during the burn, where
behaviour shifts, and what could be refined in the next iteration.
Jeppe describes it as a continuous chase for improvement. It is not
enough to meet a standard once. The question is whether the performance can be repeated - again and again, over time, in real production.
